Introduction
Dedicated to Lord Krishna, this is one of the most sacred and historic temples in Jaipur. The temple houses an idol of Gopinathji, believed to have been crafted over 5000 years ago, by Krishna’s great-grandson, Bajranabh. According to local legend, the temple gained prominence when an Englishman, skeptical of its divine power, placed a pulse-operated wristwatch on the idol over 50 years ago to test the belief that the deity was alive. The watch apparently is ticking till date and stops when the priest removes it wwhile performing pooja. This fascinating blend of history and legend makes the Govind Devji Temple a must-visit for both devotees and curious travelers.
