Introduction
An artificial freshwater lake approximately 12 kilometres from the city centre. Constructed between 1652 and 1680 by Maharana Raj Singh I, the Badi Lake, also known as Jiyan Sagar, was developed to mitigate the effects of a devastating famine. Covering an area of 155 square kilometres, it features an embankment 180 metres long and 18 metres wide, adorned with three artistic chhatris (pavilions). During the drought of 1973, Lake Badi served as a crucial water source for Udaipur's residents.
