Introduction
Located near the Qutub Minar, this sprawling urban forest is spread across 780 acres. Known for its dense vegetation, it offers a tranquil escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. The forest is home to a variety of bird species, making it a favourite among birdwatchers. Historical ruins, such as tombs from the medieval Sultanate period, are scattered throughout the park, adding an element of intrigue to this natural retreat. It’s an ideal spot for nature walks, meditation, or just soaking in the serenity of the forest.
Not To Be Missed
- Birdwatching spots: The forest is home to over 200 bird species, including the peafowl, Eurasian golden oriole, and different species of parakeets. Head towards the central and northern parts for the best sightings.
- Ruins and tombs: Look out for the numerous medieval tombs scattered across the forest, which add a historical charm to the place.
